Her spiritual life was the cornerstone of her reign. A devout follower of Lord Shiva, she tirelessly worked towards promoting Hinduism, restoring temples, and supporting priests. The present custodians of this architectural gem is Prince Richard Holkar, and his son, Maharaja Yeshwant Rao Holkar. The Holkar family has taken immense pride in preserving their legacy and showcasing the rich heritage of the Ahilya Fort to tourists and history enthusiasts alike. The fort is now part Heritage Hotel and part museum.
